The Circus, yes the circus. It holds some of the fondest memories of my childhood.
The candy, the animals, the lights, the noises; they are all integral aspects of the excitement of the event; but another aspect of the show that was always memorable were the aerialists. All the flipping, contortionism, and aerobatics were usually jaw-dropping and left you in a state of shock and “how’d they do that”?!
February is usually the time of year here in Atlanta that the circus comes to town, and with it being right around the corner, it brought to mind all the excitement that I remembered as a child. So I decided to get in on the action. Enter, Sky Gym in Atlanta. I first noticed them on a recent episode of #RHOA when Kenya Moore invited Kandi to take part in a class at the gym. The gym which is located in Roswell, which is about 20 minutes west of central Atlanta, offers many levels of classes from beginner to expert, and everything in between.
Upon arrival, we were given a 30 minute safety class, some light stretching, and pertinent information to keep us safe. Then the fun began. Even though it was a beginner course, we were able to work on the trapeze, the metal circle, and the fabrics. It is much harder than it looks on television or at the circus and takes incredible upper body strength. Still, it was a fantastic time.
I’d give the experience 3.5 out of 5 stars. If you have the time, strength, and flexibility, check the class out. I think you’ll really enjoy it. I certainly did.
